Guest Post: Cloth vs Disposable

We've recently been researching about whether to go with cloth diapers or disposable diapers. I think we found the perfect solution. What kind of diapers do you use? Would you think of switching?

Disclaimer: This was a silly post by Matt. Watch the video. We aren't actually going to use cloth diapers, makes me puke just thinking about it. But thanks for all the advice!

That is soooo gross! No amount of eco friendly propaganda is going to make me switch from Huggies to cloth diapers. None.

Seriously, I love huggies - I tried a lot of other diapers, including the kirkland kind, and like Huggies the best. At Costco, Huggies (however, Costco only carries size 2+, not the newborn or size 1) are actually cheaper than Kirkland brand. Pampers have a fragrance, that I particularly hate, and can bother a sensitive skinned baby's behind. My advice is to buy a few brands in small quantities and see what works best for you.

Everyone that I know who started out using cloth because of some "I'm better because I use cloth," misguided notion, ended up having to swallow their "pride" and switch to disposable because it wasn't worth all the trouble. I like Huggies best. We started out with a little of both, Huggies and Pampers, but I didn't like the smell of the Pampers,(I can smell it right now just typing about it), and I liked the fit of the Huggies better. I've found that I also like the Costco brand, they are a Huggies knockoff, and they do carry the size 1 in those. But actually, depending on the week, sometimes the Huggies are cheaper than the Kirkland brand.n

That is disgusting!!! Agree with everyones comments so far. Disposables are the only way to go--just fill up the landfills. Isn't that what they are there for :). I am a Kirkland brand snob. I think they are softer and thicker than huggies. They are and always will be my favorites.

Thats so funny, Dan and I just watched that clip this morning before I even saw this post! We were laughing so hard. Could you even imagine at how digusting that would be! As far as the real advice, every kid is different as to what diapers work best for them. Our kids leak through everything but pampers. But I know many people who are fine with generic or only a certain other brand. Each brand fits a little diffently, so if you find one that works stick with it, and if it leaks try something else.

Absolutely disgusting Matt! Take all these people's advice, and use the disposable diapers! I prefer Huggies as well, you'll never find a better fit and a better diaper that doesn't leak!

Oh, tell Matt I cant stop laughing. That is hillarious! But I agree with Kirstin (and most everyone else I see), Huggies are the best. The pampers diaper smell made me puke when I was pregnant with Jackson and Ashton was using pampers (for a short period of time.) by the way, Sams club carries them as well, and they have a size called 1-2 kinda an inbetween 1 & 2 size. But, try different kinds, see what works for your little one.

Now that I'm done dry heaving, let me answer you this. Pampers Swaddlers. We tried so many different types of diapers, and so many were given to us, but NONE were are good as Swaddlers. They wick away all the nast, and leave the bum fresh and dry. Trust me! We loved them. Then once Jax grew out of the sizes for Swadders (up to size 2 I think) we went to Pampers Cruisers. Never looked back.

I also must say I gasped when I read you have not gained a pound. You skinny little thing. You need to go eat a cow right now. I don't care if it's gross- DO IT! Maybe it's the fact that I gained 12 lbs in my first trimester that makes me so bitter. But I would never tell anyone that...
