Baby Sunday: 24 weeks

Hello blog! This week has flown by! My mom left earlier in the week. :( Thanks to her we got lots of stuff done. Wednesday I spent my time organizing things for A-days and made the most delicious key lime pie on the planet. Thursday I spent my time researching every baby product known to man and it was mentally exhausting. Friday we made dinner at home then went to the Target to get me some swim essentials to keep me nice and cool while I bake under the hot sun at the pool- cute hat, fan with squirt bottle and the most comfy pool chair. Then on Saturday Matt spent most the day helping his buddy install sprinklers in his yard and I did house chores and tried out my new sunbathing products in the backyard. Needless to say we both looked like lobsters today at church. The sun is so much stronger down here than I'm used to and I totally miscalculated my usual tanning time. And now I'm trying to figure out how to tan the back of my body since I can't really lay on my stomach- that should be interesting. Speaking of stomachs, here is the baby update!

Baby Sunday: 24 weeks

Obsessions/Rampages: It's decided, I now look pregnant. I had 3 different people at church today say things like, "You look pregnant now!.", "You're growing", and "I didn't know you were pregnant!" Oh and the best was when we were at home depot and the lady at checkout says, "Oh my goodness, when are you due?". YES! I love my new bump. And whenever I whine that I feel big or fat Matt says, "Duh, you're pregnant, there's a baby in there, that's the point." He keeps me grounded. I have to be careful that I don't compare myself to other people and their pregnancies because everyone is different and bodies react differently etc, etc. I don't recognize my belly button anymore- but I'm sure I'll never recognize it. Right now I'm obsessed with finding new and comfortable ways to sit. My favorite way is on the floor with my legs in this sort of pigeon/indian style seating. Very comfy. I think I slept wrong or something because the 3 hours of sitting in church today wasn't very fun. My bunda starts to hurt after a while. Better get used to it, cuz it's only going to get worse. And yes I did just use "bunda" in place of "butt", I think it's the cutest word. Thanks Sarah!

Elations/Worries: Elated with all the kicks the baby now gives me. Cutest story- Matt and I were laying in bed reading and baby boy is acting like Karate Kid in my stomach and Matt puts his hand on my tummy to feel. Over and over again he just kicks and kicks and kicks. I was pretty tired and wanted to go to bed so Matt starts talking to baby and singing him songs and telling him "It's time to go to bed now, Mom's tired." And I kid you not, after about 1 min he stopped kicking. Matt is already imparting his calming influence onto the child. Love it! It might have been a coincidence but I like to think it wasn't.
Worries- remember how I said my face has been awesome this whole pregnancy, well it still is except now I have some serious freckles. I don't usually get a lot of freckles on my face but my pregnancy bible says it happens to some ladies. I can't remember what it's called, starts with a "c" I think. So I may look like Pippi Longstocking by the end of my pregnancy. That's ok, freckles can be very cute!

Aversions/Cravings: New favorite cereal is Wheat Chex with a few raisins. yummy. The sugary cravings have subsided this week with the exception of Diet Coke (caffeine free please!) Some books say it's ok to drink caffeinated beverages in moderation while prego but I'm not taking any chances, besides if I start to steal a swig of Matt's normal diet soda he takes it away from me, what a pop nazi. :) And I have noticed that when I eat something sugary (like the Mt. Everest sized bowl of Cap'n Crunch I had last week) baby goes nuts a few hours later. Oh and green peppers with a little bit of salt are very refreshing to me.

Baby Sunday: 23 weeks

This week has been the most productive week since we moved in. The day after my mom arrived we went to work (and when I say "we" I mean mostly Matt and my mom) fixing our fence that has been broken since Hurricane Ike. Check. We painted the baby room a nice neutral brown color called antique brown. Check. We organized Matt's office. We dug around all or bedding in the front and laid new mulch. We went maternity clothes shopping. Check, check and check. And we did a bunch of other little things throughout the week. We could not have done it without my mom here, she is the craziest worker I've ever seen. YEAH FOR MOMS! She'll just keep going and going until I make her come inside and rest/eat so she doesn't pass out on me. I'm hoping that some of that work ethic is buried somewhere inside of my genes and it's just waiting to manifest itself. We had the worst thunderstorm on Saturday. The worst I think since the hurricane. Here's a little video:

In case you can't hear above the roaring rain, Matt is saying something along the lines of, "This is the new addition to our house, it's a waterfall and you can shower in it too."

Baby Sunday: 23 weeks

Obsessions/ Rampages: Obsessed with the baby moving all around. Matt can feel him squirming all the time now. It's so fun. Also, I cannot get over how much my figure is changing. It's like I stand sideways and BOOM there's a torpedo coming out of me. It is unreal how much the human body changes. So cool. So far I've been really good with everything. I don't have heartburn yet and I've found some good positions that I are the most comfortable for me right now. Overall I really can't complain. Things have been very smooth and I feel very blessed.

Elations/Worries: Elated that I finally have some clothes that fit now! My mom and I went shopping and I must say maternity clothes have gotten very cute. I was a little worried that I wouldn't find anything I liked because most people I see all look like they are wearing tents and some maternity clothes look so frumpy, but I was pleasantly surprised that I actually had to narrow down my choices so Matt wouldn't die when I told him the total. They have these new secret fit bands on some bottoms now and they are sooooo comfortable . I may even wear them when I'm NOT pregnant:) Plus they are so cute, I feel like I'm wearing normal clothes. Awesome.
I've reached a small milestone-I had an appointment this week and I my tummy is now being measured with a tape measure. I also got all my instructions and Glucola for my glucose tolerance test. At my next appointment they are going to give me another ultrasound so they can assess the heart more clearly. They didn't get to see as much as they would have liked last time, let's hope that everything is perfect.

Aversions/Cravings: Cravings- sweets. I feel like I could shove a whole bag of chocolate chips in my mouth and still not be satisfied. Fish is really good this week too-especially in a corn tortilla. yum. And pizza always sounds good, but only with pineapple or veggies. Don't even try to put anything else on it or I'll crinkle my nose at you. Food is my friend now. I cannot tell how many times I've gone over in my head what food places we are going to eat at when we visit Utah in couple weeks. The list keeps getting longer and longer. Okay I better stop thinking about food, I'm starting to salivate.

Baby Sunday: 22 weeks

Happy Easter! We had a fantastic Easter. My mom got here last night and we woke up to it raining cats and dogs. I made cute little Easter baskets with some candy and a book for Matt. Then when we got out of church it was sunny and beautiful. I made a delish Easter dinner and we then took a drive/walk around the neighborhood.

Belly Shot (ignore the nastiness that is all over my mirror:)

Obsessions/Rampages:
Again, baby stuff. Finally got a dresser and we are going to get the crib this week. I'm not sure if it's called "nesting" yet, but I've been a cleaning machine. My house is currently spot less from top to bottom. I'm curious how long it will stay that way, I'm guessing a week. And we don't have kids yet. Wow. It's getting increasingly harder to find things to wear. My tops are all fine but I can barely zip most of my pants up. Any thoughts on good jeans would be greatly appreciated. I'm on a nose blowing rampage. I have box a of kleenex in every room cuz I always have to blow my nose. It's the worst at night. And I think the baby has decided to maintain a permanent residence on my bladder.

Elations/Worries:
Matt felt him kick just now! His movements have been getting more and more pronounced and I love it. Grow belly grow! Pure Elation. Sometimes it's surreal how fast it happens. Really a miracle. Elated my mom is here. Now we can get some serious house projects done. I'll admit it-I'm useless when is comes to projects that take longer than 2 hours. I get tired too fast and lose interest. No worries this week, happy as a lark!

Aversions/Cravings:
I really love pasta right now. I've also grown to love the creaminess of 1% milk. The skim I usually buy just started tasting gross all of a sudden. Black beans have become very delicious this week too.

Baby Sunday: 21 weeks

Baby Sunday:

Phew! I almost forgot about Baby Sunday. Here we go, first a few highlights from the week. I got my baby bedding. The colors weren't as vibrant as I wanted in person, so I resold it on craigslist at only a $4 loss. Nice. I think I found some other bedding that I might get. I'm thinking about it. Also, I ventured out and found a WorldMarket. That place is amazing. I had to limit myself to only the essentials, otherwise I would have bought everything in the entire store. We have bugs dying left and right all over the house. We had a pest guy come and spray for bugs and now I keep finding dead spiders and cockroaches everywhere. Gross, but I guess it's better then them being alive. We also finally broke down and went to the Home Depot to get some essentials. We figured we've owned this house for almost a year so it was time to buy our own shovel and stuff like that so we don't have to keep bugging our awesome neighbors for theirs. We have the hardest time spending money. We had a great Conference weekend. Today we went to a friends house for breakfast and watched the morning session. During the afternoon session I made lemon bars (while listening) for a baby blessing we went to tonight. I always fill rejuvenated after Conference. Ok now for baby sunday.

Obsessions/Rampages:
Obsessed with furnishing the baby room. I spend hours surfing the web for deals and ideas and such. There is so much to choose from that I have a hard time narrowing it all down to what I love and need vs. what I love and want. Also obsessed that this little guy moves around all the time now. I love it! He's always squirming and it feels like his using me as a little punching bag sometimes. He is getting so strong. Matt still can't feel him on the outside, but I think by the end of the month he'll be able to. I love watching all the little boys running around at friends houses and at church. You can definitely tell a difference between boys and girls. Boys are crazy, but I can't wait for all the "adventures" I will soon get to experience. I think I have been experiencing what is know as prego brain. I lose my train of thought so easily and forgot stuff all the time. So I think it's prego brain, that or I spend too much time on the computer and it's frying my brain:)

Elations/Worries:
My belly is getting harder and harder. I will post a pic next week, but I think I look pregnant now. My mom is coming this week so we'll see what she says about my belly. Worries- My back hurts sometimes now and it's gets hard to sit in the same spot for long periods of time. My joints and wrists are always popping too. I read that the extra hormones are making my ligaments loose. So my wrists hurt alot more than normal. Oh well, what can you do. All worth it too see this little bubba.

Cravings/Aversion:
I've really been into tilapia this week. It has such a fresh taste that I love it with just about anything. I really love fruity candy too, usually I'm a chocolate kind of girl. And I need to be better about eating when I'm hungry even if it's 2 hours later. The other day I ate what I thought was a good filling dinner, then later that night on our way home from running errands I thought I was going to die I was so hungry. So we stopped at this local burger joint and you'll never guess what I ordered. Chili cheese fries! I never order stuff like that-never. It's just never been part of my palate, but those puppies sure hit the spot. I'm glad Matt has some activites to keep him active (Tuesday-ultimate frisbee, Wednesday-Tennis, Saturday-Tennis, basketball) or else he would be packing on the pregnancy pounds with me:)

Thoughts?

Everyone around here has dogs. Matt really wants one. He wants a puggle: a pug mixed with a poodle. I may consider getting a dog if I could do this with it.

And I may get one of these for Matt for his birthday and one for baby boy, so they can be twinners when they go camping. Yes, that is the creature that Luke Skywalker cuts into to keep warm from Star Wars- I believe it's called a tauntaun.
